Did you know seals can hold their breath for over 30 minutes? The term for the method seals use to move on land is called "galumphing". Harp seals have one of the shortest nursing periods of all mammals with only a 12 day nursing period! Fur seals, while having the seal name are actually sea lions! Seals and sea lions are actually different animals, the easiest method for telling them apart is their ears, seals have inner ears and sea lions have external ears that look like little flaps on the side of their heads. Seals actually will sleep underwater like dolphins! Seals belong to the pinniped family, this includes seals, sea lions, fur seals and walruseswalruses! Theres 13 kinds of seals my favorite is the ribbon seal. Despite their name, crabeater sealscrabeater seals dont eat crabs!
